New ORV Route –
Indian River ORV Route
This new ORV Route is not shown in our maps as a designated route, however it uses existing snowmobile trail segments which are shown in our maps in the Michigan Off Road Guide and Travel Atlas on page 53. The route uses snowmobile trail 7, 76 & 767 to create a loop. ORV Route Name Changes –
The Tomahawk Route
Elk Route and Brush Creek Route have been combined into one system which is now called the Atlanta ORV Route. These routes are all shown on page 60 of the Michigan Off Road Guide and Travel Atlas. The St. Helen – Denton connector ORV Route

ORV Route Removed –
The Tomahawk ORV route
This has been decommissioned and is no longer legal to travel on with an ORV of any type. This Route is shown on pages 53 & 59 of the Michigan Off Road Guide and Travel Atlas. ATV Trail Added –
The Lupton ATV Trail
This has been added to the Bull Gap Trail system. This ATV Trail is in the southeast section of the Bull Gap System. It connects to Doll Road which will take you into the town of Lupton. This new trail is not shown in our maps, however it would be on page 66 of the Michigan Off Road guide and Travel Atlas. Motorcycle Trail Re-designations –
The Bummers Roost Motorcycle Trail
This is now open to ATV’s and its name will be changed to the Bummers Roost ATV Trail. This trail is shown in our maps on page 54 of the Michigan Off Road Guide and Travel Atlas as a motorcycle trail. The Missaukee Junction Motorcycle Trail
This is now open to ATV’s and its name will be changed to the Missaukee Junction ATV Trail. The Red Bridge Motorcycle Trail
This is now open to ATV’s and its name will be changed to the Red Bridge ATV Trail. This trail is shown in our maps on page 54 of the Michigan Off Road Guide and Travel Atlas as a motorcycle trail. New Motorcycle Trail Added –
The North Missaukee Motorcycle Trail
This has been added to the North Missaukee trail system which currently has ORV Routes & ATV Trails. While the new motorcycle sections are not shown in our maps, the North Missaukee system is shown on page 64 of the Michigan Off Road Guide and Travel Atlas. Notification of changes to and clarification of designated ORV trails.

In the Lower Peninsula, within the designated ORV trail system, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, (MDNR) has recently changed the designation of certain trails to; and/or clarified the designation of the following trails for use by motorcycles only:
1. North Missaukee Motorcycle Trail
(Formerly known as the northern portion of the Missaukee Trail) The MDNR indicates trail segments open only to Motorcycles will be clearly posted. This trail is shown on page 64 of the Michigan Off Road Guide and Travel Atlas. It is labeled as ‘North Missaukee ATV Trail’ and is shown as open to all vehicles under 50″ in width.
Please note this is a change to the trails designation. It is now only open to vehicles 24″ in width on the ground.
2. Tin Cup Spring Motorcycle Trail
(Formerly known as Tin Cup Spring Trail) This trail is shown on page 69 of the Michigan Off Road Guide and Travel Atlas. We show it as a motorcycle trail. Therefore, its designation has not changed.
3. Little Manistee Motorcycle Trail
(Formerly known as the Little Manistee Trail) This trail is shown on page 69 of the Michigan Off Road Guide and Travel Atlas. We show it as a motorcycle trail. Therefore, its designation has not changed.
4. Evart Motorcycle Trail
(Formerly known as the Evart Trail) This trail is shown on page 70 of the Michigan Off Road Guide and Travel Atlas. We show it as a motorcycle trail. Therefore, its designation has not changed.
5. Long Lake Motorcycle Trail
(Formerly known as the Long Lake Trail) This trail is shown on page 64 of the Michigan Off Road Guide and Travel Atlas. We show it as a motorcycle trail. Therefore, its designation has not changed.
6. Lincoln Hills Motorcycle Trail
(Formerly known as the Lincoln Hills Trail) The MDNR indicates trail segments open only to Motorcycles will be clearly posted. This trail is shown on page 69 of the Michigan Off Road Guide and Travel Atlas, labeled as ‘Lincoln Hills ATV Trail’, and is shown as open to all vehicles under 50″ in width.
Please note this is a change to the trails designation. It is now only open to vehicles 24″ in width on the ground.
7. Grand Traverse Motorcycle Trail
(Formerly known as the Grand Traverse Trail) This trail is shown on page 64 of the Michigan Off Road Guide and Travel Atlas and includes Trails 1, 2, 3 &4. We show them as motorcycle trails. Therefore, their designation has not changed.
8. Hunt Creek Motorcycle Trail
(Formerly known as the Hunt Creek Trail) The MDNR indicates trail segments open only to Motorcycles will be clearly posted. This trail is shown on page 60 of the Michigan Off Road Guide and Travel Atlas. It is labeled as ‘Hunt Creek ATV Trail’ and is shown as open to all vehicles under 50″ in width.
Please note this is a change to the trails designation. It is now only open to vehicles 24″ in width on the ground.
9. Tomahawk Motorcycle Trails B & C
(Formerly known as the Tomahawk Trails B & C) These trails are shown on pages 53 & 59 of the Michigan Off Road Guide and Travel Atlas. We show them as motorcycle trails. Therefore, their designation has not changed.
To the best of our knowledge, no other changes, re-designations or clarifications to Michigan’s designated ORV trail system have been made. Please continue to check our website at www.offroadventure.com for additional updates.
